on august 8,th 2014 myself and my wife ordered from the loudon road longhorn steakhouse in concord,nh I told them that I had a severe life threatening allergy to onion and onion based product(onion powder, onion salt) I repeated this to the order taker several times ans she said do not worry we will make sure, when the order was picked up I took 2 bites of my dinner and started feeling weird I started wheezing heavily, having a SEVERE hard time to breath as though my throat was closing, developed, large red hives, the restaurant was called and asked if there seasoning has any type of onion a yes was given by this time 911 had already been called and I had given myself 2 doses epi - pen and took liquid benedryl to try and calm the reaction after waiting a few minutes my wife decided to drive me to the local hospital where I was given oxygen, intubated, given life saving medication I was listed in critical condition due to a screw up at the restaurant I spent from the 8th of august to august 11th in the hospital after I was discharged I called the restaurant and spoke with a member of management who said some where along the line the ball got dropped the order taker knew of the severe allergy, she told the bartender who failed or forgot to tell the kitchen how convenient to forget something this major I almost lost my life the restaurant has immediately called there insurer Liberty Mutual (worst company in the world) they received all the requested information including medical reports of the incident, bills totaling $ 25,000 plus to which I paid with my credit card because I am uninsured, on 08/21/14 liberty mutual did find that longhorn is liable for the allergic reaction, I am only asking to be reimbursed for medical that I paid on 8/15/14 I am not asking for lost work of 4 days or anything else the insurer issued me a $ 1,000 dollar check for medical pay saying that is the limit on the restaurant policy and the rest will be covered under the liability on 8/22/14 I get a call from the adjuster saying he needs more information there is nothing else from the hospital or medical providers I can provide I have given them all information including the receipt for payment to the hospital, medical records, etc. they say that they still need more information I do not know why a restaurant like Longhorn steakhouse which is owned by darden restaurant group who have a great reputation would have an insurer with such a bad reputation I am pissed that because of some one's negligence I almost lost my life.

i do have receipts, med records etc. for anyone who wishes to see them

Reason of review: them to reimburse for out of pocket medical expenses.

Preferred solution: for the company or the insurer to reimburse me for out of pocket medical expenses.

Location: Concord, New Hampshire

Don't go out to eat if you have that bad of an allergy ***. What do you expect from a chain restaurant? You put they tried to kill you that's a little overboard don't you think?

It might not have been anything the restaurant did, the seasoning could have already been in some of the semi prepared food that restaurants use.

I am the person who had the reaction it is a special blend of seasoning the restaurant uses and they have already admitted liability the food was not semi prepared it was the seasoning mix they use on steaks, burgers, fries, etc. so yes the restaurant did commit a negligent act I am not asking for anything but to be reimbursed for medical expenses I am not asking for 4 days lost wages or any other damages
